WHAT’S THE PROCESS?

  • Call us to set up your first FREE SESSION!

  •  Prior to your first chill, we will sit down with you and discuss your goals.

  • We will educate you on the process and make you completely comfortable.

  • You will sign a waiver confirming there are no pre-existing conditions that would prevent you from participating.

  • All jewelry and body piercings must be removed.

  • Guys will wear boxers or briefs, ladies will wear sports bra and underwear or athletic shorts.

  • Clients will change into a robe, slippers, and gloves. Once inside the unit, we will take your robe and begin treatment. After treatment, we will return your robe so you can exit the unit.

  • Post session, your skin will tingle as blood rushes back into its outer layers. An endorphin rush will begin that typically lasts up to eight hours!

HOW DOES CRYOTHERAPY WORK?

  • The sudden cold from the dry nitrogen gas causes the body’s protective functions to kick into gear. The brain gets signals from the skin to release anti-inflammatory proteins, endorphins, and increase oxygen into the bloodstream. An increase in total body circulation takes place.

HOW COLD DOES IT GET?

  • Temperatures will reach down to -300 F in each three minute session, lowering the skin’s surface temperature 30 to 5 degrees. Don’t worry! This is a dry cold, so you may feel a slight tingle in your forearms and lower legs. Overall, you will feel a gentle cooling of your skin.

HOW WILL I FEEL DURING MY SESSION?

  • Cryotherapy involves dry, hyper-cooled air flowing over the skin’s surface, so the process never freezes skin tissues, muscles or organs. The result is only a “feeling” of being cold. The body is being tricked into believing that the extreme cold is life threatening, thus turning on the body’s protective mechanisms. Cryotherapy is a dry cold with no moisture and is tolerable even to those who consider themselves cold intolerant. It is a comfortable cold!

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER A SESSION?

  • Cryotherapy stimulates the body to release endorphins, the hormones that make us feel alert and energetic. Studies show the ability for increased strength output in post-Cryo training sessions. The energized effects from each session typically last six to eight hours post treatment. A series of Cryotherapy sessions will positively impact long term chronic pain, and many clients report improvements in sleep quality.

WHAT CONDITIONS WOULD PREVENT ME FROM BEING ELIGIBLE FOR CRYOTHERAPY?

  • Pregnancy

  • Severe Hypertension (BP> 180/100) Any Cardiac Related Conditions such as: Acute or recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris, arrhythmia, symptomatic cardiovascular disease, cardiac pacemaker, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, venous   thrombosis

  • Acute or recent cerebrovascular accident

  • Uncontrolled seizures

  • Fever or Infection

  • Cancer

  • Lung disorders

  • Bleeding disorders or severe anemia, infection, cold-allergy, kidney or urinary tract infections.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL RESULTS?

  • Most people feel a positive change after just one session for recovery or minor inflammation. For chronic conditions, depending upon the condition being treated, it should initially take five to ten treatments in close succession (every other day) for the first 2 weeks. After this initial loading period, maintenance treatments should be at least once per week.

WHO NEEDS CRYOTHERAPY?

  • Whole Body Cryotherapy is ideal for athletes seeking muscle recovery, people with chronic pain and inflammatory conditions, and those seeking weight loss and skin rejuvenation. Cryotherapy is used post-surgically to accelerate the healing process and reduce pain without the side effects of pain medications and anti-inflammatory drugs.

IS EXERCISE RECOMMENDED AFTER THE CRYOTHERAPY SESSION?

  • Yes, an advantage of cryotherapy over ice therapy is that tissues and muscle are not frozen. Ten minutes of light exercise post cryotherapy will induce more rapid vasodilation of the blood vessels and capillaries and extend the period of analgesia. It is also ideal post-workout to speed athletic recovery and ease sore muscles.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY?

  • Cryotherapy is very well tolerated and has minimal risks. Systolic blood pressure during the procedure can increase by 10 points but will reverse after the procedure as peripheral circulation returns to normal. Allergic reactions to extreme cold (chilblain), claustrophobia, anxiety are rare. Activation of some viral conditions (cold sores, etc.) due to stimulation of the immune system can occur. Protective clothing (socks, gloves, undergarments) must be dry in order to avoid chilblain.

No-shows and appointments not cancelled 30 minutes prior to appointment time will result in a $20 fee.
